FPSB Council The FPSB Council is a forum for financial planning organizations from around the world that seek to advance awareness of the CFP Marks and the profession of financial planning. The FPSB Council acts as an advisory and consulting body to FPSB's Board of Directors and is made up of delegations from each of the organizational members of FPSB. FPSB Affiliates, organizations authorized by FPSB to administer the CFP certification program in a territory, and CFP Board, the U.S. CFP Marks owner, have full voting rights within the FPSB Council. FPSB Associates, organizations in the process of becoming FPSB Affiliates, do not have voting rights and are not authorized to grant individuals the right to use the CFP Marks. In addition to regular telephonic meetings, the FPSB Council meets annually in conjunction with two FPSB Board of Directors meetings (typically in April and October) to: create, review, debate and approve policies and procedures for the management, protection and promotion of the international CFP certification program;
allow FPSB Members and those interested in becoming FPSB Members to share ideas/best practices with peer bodies from around the world, learn about areas of commonality and how mutual experiences can be leveraged to best advantage, and gain knowledge/support that enhances standards-setting efforts. To maximize opportunities for promoting the financial planning process, the CFP Marks, and the role and activities of FPSB and FPSB Members, the FPSB Council meeting location rotates among FPSB territories. Often, the host organization holds its own financial planning conference/events to coincide with the FPSB Council meeting.
