CFP BOARD CONGRATULATES FINANCIAL PLANNING STANDARDS BOARD Denver, March 22, 2006 – The Board of Governors of Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) unanimously resolved during its March 21, 2006, meeting to congratulate Financial Planning Standards Board on its first fifteen months of independent existence and its progress in developing and enforcing standards for the use and protection of the CFP marks throughout the world. The resolution approved by the Board of Governors is as follows: WHEREAS, the Financial Planning Standards Board exists as an international entity formed for the purpose of managing, developing and operating common certification and related standards within its territories throughout the world for financial planning professionals in the areas of education and continuing education, experience, examinations, ethics, proper use and display of the CFP marks and to enforce such standards; and WHEREAS, Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. and Financial Planning Standards Board have a common interest in developing and enforcing standards for the use and protection of the Marks throughout the world; and WHEREAS, Financial Planning Standards Board has now existed independently of Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. for 15 months; and WHEREAS, the Financial Planning Standards Board has made substantial progress toward the realization of its purpose in that time; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT, the Board of Governors of Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. congratulates Financial Planning Standards Board for its accomplishments and pledges to continue to work on building on our common interest in developing standards and protecting the CFP marks for the benefit and protection of consumers of financial planning around the world. The mission of CFP Board, a nonprofit regulatory organization, is to foster professional standards in personal financial planning so that the public values, has access to and benefits from competent financial planning. CFP Board owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and federally registered CFP (with flame logo) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
