FPSB Affiliate Membership Status

A FPSB Affiliate member is the preeminent nonprofit, or its equivalent, financial planning standards-setting or professional body in a territory that has entered into an Affiliation and License Agreement with FPSB.  By meeting and maintaining FPSB's affiliation requirements and standards, FPSB Affiliates are authorized to administer the world-class CFP certification program in a territory on behalf of FPSB. 

When a FPSB Associate completes FPSB’s Criteria for Affiliate Membership, the organization may apply for Affiliate status with FPSB.

FPSB Affiliates work with FPSB to establish, promote and develop competency, ethics and professional practice standards for financial planning in a territory, consistent in scope and content with FPSB’s international CFP certification requirements. FPSB licenses an FPSB Affiliate to authorize use of FPSB’s marks by individuals employed or residing in a territory who have met FPSB’s standards for CFP certification.

FPSB Affiliates have full voting rights in FPSB and representatives can be nominated for an elected position on the FPSB Council or FPSB Board of Directors.  FPSB conducts regular assessments (typically on a three to five year cycle) to ensure that Affiliates maintain FPSB’s rigorous CFP certification requirements.  FPSB Affiliates pay annual fees to FPSB based on the number of individuals each organization has authorized to use the CFP marks.
