Financial Planning Standards Board names Tamara Monroe as Director of Legal ServicesDENVER, 08 June 2007 – Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB) announced today that it has named Tamara S. Monroe, Esq. to be the association's Director of Legal Services. Ms. Monroe will oversee the trademark and corporate legal work, manage licensing and affiliation agreements, ensure compliance with international CFP certification program standards, and support FPSB Affiliates in developing and implementing disciplinary processes. “Tamara’s experience with CFP Board is a natural fit with FPSB’s strategic mission to establish CFP certification as the mark of financial planning professionalism globally,” said Noel Maye, FPSB CEO. “Rigorous ethical standards and their enforcement by FPSB Affiliates are central to the value that the public, employers and the financial services marketplace derive from engaging a CFP professional.” Prior to joining FPSB, Ms. Monroe spent six years with Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., which owns the CFP marks in the U.S., most recently as Director of Core Operations and Professional Review. In addition to overseeing CFP Board’s disciplinary process, she managed the Education and Examination, Stakeholder and Certification Services, and Information Technology departments. “I look forward to enhancing FPSB’s already rigorous standards for certification to ensure the global public can access and benefit from the advice of competent and ethical planners,” said Ms. Monroe. “I am eager to work with FPSB’s Affiliates to ensure the ethical standards for CFP certification are consistently administered globally.” Ms. Monroe earned her Bachelor’s degree from University of Akron, Ohio, and her Juris Doctor degree from Seattle University School of Law. FPSB is governed by a nine-member international board of directors and supported by the FPSB Council, an advisory group representing 19 organizations (FPSB Affiliates) that currently manage the CFP certification in their respective countries and one organization in the process of becoming an FPSB Affiliate.
