TO ITS 2012 BOARD OF DIRECTORS -- US-Based Kochis Brings Extensive Experience in
Financial Planning Practice, Governance--
DENVER, CO – 7 November 2011 – Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB), owner of the CFP, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER and CFP Logo trademarks outside the United States, elected Tim Kochis, JD, MBA, CFP, president of International Ventures with US-based Aspiriant, to a four-year term on FPSB’s Board of Directors, starting 1 April 2012.
“Tim Kochis has been a leader in the US and global financial planning community and has a passion for the globalization of the CFP certification program,” said Corinna Dieters, 2011 Chairperson of FPSB’s Board of Directors. “Since FPSB’s establishment in 2004, Tim has shown tremendous support for the global certification program, and we look forward to his service on the FPSB Board at a time of growth for our program in Asia and emerging markets.
Kochis has nearly 40 years of experience in the personal financial and investment planning profession. Before founding Kochis Fitz, a predecessor firm to Aspiriant, Kochis was National Director of Personal Financial Planning for Deloitte and Touche and held a similar role at Bank of America.
Kochis has long been a leader and influencer in the movement to gain global recognition for financial planning as a distinct profession. A former president of the Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards and chair of the Board of Governors of the Foundation for Financial Planning, Kochis is now an honorary director of the Japanese Academic Society for Financial Planning. He was also a 2010 recipient of the US-based Financial Planning Association’s P. Kemp Fain Award for exceptional career-long contributions to the financial planning profession. Kochis was a member of the FPSB Board from 2003 to 2005, serving as chairperson in 2005 after the organization became Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd.

He joins FPSB’s 11-person Board of Directors, with members from Australia, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, UK and US. Kochis’s term on the FPSB Board of Directors ends on 31 March 2016.
