Complete a certification program that is offered by JAFP registered educational institutions.
Be able to choose in-class learning or distance learning.
Every course is provided In Japanese.
*The Financial Planning Recommendations shall be written in Japanese and in accordance with Japanese law and regulations. After completing a certification program, you have to obtain an AFP certification with the requirements of 15 continuing education credits every two years.

New Zealand

What do I need to do to be certified as a CFP professional?

NZ may recognize up to 100% of Previous Territory Education based on assessment of qualifications held compared to the NZ standard.

New Zealand requires three years experience as a Financial Adviser (overseas or in NZ).

Plus one year Supervised Experience by a NZ CFPCM Professional of three years standing or more, with the submission of Supervised Experience Report to the NZ Certification Committee, OR the submission of a Portfolio of Experience covering the previous three years covering all six area of Financial Planning subject to NZ Certification Committee assessment.

(a) A min. of formal education from the respective territories that is equivalent to Singapore Cambridge GCE A level (12 years of education) and conducted in English OR
(b) Relevant undergraduate studies from a recognize tertiary institutions and conducted in English

(a) 3 years of relevant experience OR (b) a letter of good-standing from another CFP member who has awarded the designation and has been paying his/her certification fees promptly for more than 5 years.

Currently, they are required to prepare a financial plan in English according to Singapore law and regulations. We do not require the current territory financial plan assessment.

They are required to pass Module 3 (Estate & Tax Planning), Module 5 (Retirement Planning) and Module 6 (Financial Plan Construction & Professional Responsibilities) in English. Module 3 and 5 is a 3-hr MCQ exam that comprises of 95 Questions (Questions 90 to 95 carries 2 marks each). Module 6 is a 3-hr exam to construct a financial plan based on a Case Study.

The candidate is required to complete the Cross-Border examination designed to assess the candidate’s knowledge and understanding on Thailand local laws and regulations in relation to financial planning practice in Thailand. However, currently no Cross-Border examination paper has been developed. The format of examination could be a comprehensive financial plan in English language designed to attest the candidate’s knowledge and understanding about laws and regulations applicable to financial planning practice in Thailand.

TFPA accepts some portion of CPD credits completed in the Home Territory and the candidate is required to complete CPD credits specifically on having knowledge and understanding about NEW and UPDATED laws and regulations applicable to financial planning practice in Thailand, if any, at the time of applying the re-certification application. However, the number of CPD credits and the verification of such CPD credits have not been finalized yet.

To remain certified in Thailand, the candidate must abide by the CFP certification standards and the certification renewal requirement, including completing the required continuing professional development credit hours of no less than 30 hours per two years.
