Stephen Rotstein
Head of Stakeholder Engagement and Global PartnershipsStephen Rotstein is Head of Stakeholder Engagement and Global Partnerships at FPSB where he provides counsel on the organization’s strategic direction to advance the global financial planning profession through strategic partnerships, engagement with FPSB’s network of organizations, and new territory development.
With more than 20 years of leadership experience in the financial services sector, Rotstein is an experienced executive and proven leader in providing legal and policy advice in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. He previously served as the director of global and domestic affairs of Ontario Securities Commission and as vice president of policy and regulatory affairs and general counsel of Financial Planning Standards Council, now known as FP Canada. In these roles, he provided strategic counsel on a broad range of issues related to capital markets, systemic risk, and international standards-setting; managed relationships with the Ontario government and other federal, provincial and international regulators and agencies; engaged on policy and strategic issues impacting the Commission both domestically and globally; and led a team responsible for government, regulatory and policy issues related to financial planning and financial regulation in Canada.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Laws from the Osgoode Hall Law School, York University.
